Corks N Canvas-- Or Daquiris & Drawing, In My Case

The Shuttle Sisters and I (and some associate Sisters) went to Corks N Canvas again.  Did you forget what that is?  It's where you show up, armed with your adult beverage of choice, and they give you a canvas, paint, apron, and paintbrushes and guide you through a painting that you totally thought you were unqualified to paint, despite your 2 semesters of art class in high school.  After the success of the Sunset Swamp, we set out this time to paint The Streetcar, definitely more difficult than our first painting!

In order to store up energy and strength for the three hour painting class, we hit up Macaroni Grill in Mandeville.  Laurin loves her some Italian food.  She and Kristy fed bread to each other like they always do.

Get a room, you two.

Then we grabbed daquiris and headed over to Corks N Canvas.

We started with a blank canvas...

Then we drew a little...

Ate a little...

Painted a little...

And painted a little more....

All under the guidance and expert care of Eddie, our instructor.

I checked up on Laurin from time to time.  She was doing alright, but she kept applying the paint to her face as if it were makeup.

She looks gooooood.  And so do those Peanut Butter cups that Elizabeth made!

At the end of the night, everyone was pretty happy with their creations!

Who knew there was something so fun to do in Mandeville?!  Actually, you don't have to go all the way to Mandeville (which is quite a haul if you're from the Southshore like me :).  They have them in Uptown, Metairie, etc., and Painting With A Twist (same company, different name... I think) has a bunch of locations, too (Slidell, etc.). How fun would it be to celebrate a birthday or something with a painting class (don't forget the drinks).  So give it a try-- you will be amazed at what you can create!

Check out what Megan & Elizabeth had to say about our experience.
