I know, you're thinking, "What?!" Random, right? Well, it's for work. I have been here once before, also for work. And then a few months ago, I read an article in Southern Living Magazine called El Dorado, Arkansas, Makes Us Glad We Live in the South. I kept that article in my back pocket in case I had to make a repeat visit to El Dorado.
The article mentions are super cute boutique hotel that I tried to book, but it was sold out :( I waited too late. Should my work ever take me here again, I will be staying there.
They also mention a Mexican Restaurant in the town square, serving rooftop margaritas. Ok, you had me at rooftop margaritas. My co-worker and I ate there tonight (Laredo Grill)-- it was pretty good. The salsa was really good. The margarita was definitely from a mix (but it was good enough). We ate outside, and it was a really nice atmosphere and view.
As mentioned in the article, there are little red phone booths all over the town square.
And I just had to jump in one and pretend that I remember how to use a pay phone.
Except I think it's just for looking cute, because I picked up the phone & there was no dial tone. Although, it's entirely possible there is something you have to do in order to get a ringtone (like put money in?), but I can't remember because I haven't used a pay phone in....well, a long time.
Anywho, all that El Dorado stuff was nice. But the real reason I came here was to see this view:
That's El Dorado EHV Substation. EHV means Extremely High Voltage, and this baby is rockin' 500kV if that means anything to you. It's the largest substation in our system (we think). I had a project for this station, so I came here for a review of my drawing package.
I almost didn't bother logging into my computer to write this post, but it had been a few days, so even though I'm really tired from driving all the way up here and then working all afternoon, I wrote this post. Because I loves ya. So be thankful that you now have something to read while at work on Tuesday.

How are the rooftop margaritas?
